We had a really bad experience. We sat outside. They've a few tables in the porch outside and we were the only ones. It was busy. The service was terrible. I feel bad saying that because the girl serving us was very smiley and sweet but.. they kept forgetting about us. We waited over 45 minutes between starters and main and only got our mains because I walked in to the restaurant with our starter plates and handed them in (so it was clear our mains were not delayed because they were busy) but because they completely forgot we existed. The mozarella starter was absolutely delicious though. Our mains were so disappointing. I think they rushed them. Because my risotto was only partially cooked and had hard grains of uncooked rice throughout it. I told them this. I didn't even eat half of it. My sisters bologneses to tomato sauce was very synthetic (like tinned food of tomato hoops) and very very little actual meat. When we asked the waitress where our mains were she shrugged and said she assumed the order had gone in. We had to ask her to actually check on it. They offered me another main course but I was not going to wait another hour for it. Given the major issues with both food and service we were quite shocked that the manager didn't pop out and apologies. There was no proper apology at all. In any other restaurant they would have not charged for the main course or at the very least offered us a dessert on the house for the delay. I've given 3 stars for food because the...
Read moreWe chosed this restaurant because it looked very nice and pleasant from the outside. We waited for a while for a table to become vacant at the bar, and then they took us to a table on the side of the service route. By the way, since they didn't take our coats at the door and there was no place to hang them, my friend hung her coat on the back of the chair she was sitting on. While we were eating our orders, one of the waitress dropped a tray of drinks she was collecting, all the drinks spilled both on the floor and on my friend's coat, the waitress cleaned up the floor and continued her work without showing any embarrassment about what she had spilled on my friend's coat. She didn't even apologize. We wanted to talk with manager of the restaurant to explain this situation and say that it was not normal, but leave aside the absence of a manager, there was not even anyone who could speak English. We explained our problem via Google Translate and received our apology via Google Translate. We couldn't believe what we experienced in such a restaurant which is in the center of Madrid. I definitely do not recommend this...
Read moreIt was obvious from the start that if you are dining alone with no reservation, you are segregated from the rest of the diners in the restaurant. There were plenty of open tables in the restaurant. I was seated just in front of the kitchen service area and the bar as my "punishment" for not making a reservation. It took probably 15 minutes after I was seated (by the bartender I believe) before I was noticed and given a menu. I would have liked a glass of wine, however, that was not to be. This must be the only restaurant in Spain that does not serve wine by the glass. I have been vacationing in 4 cities and was always able to get a glass of wine - here you must buy a whole bottle. Another peculiarity about this restaurant is their menu has no prices. While the food was very good and cooked to order, I will not be back, nor will I recommend it. My server never came back to table to see if everything was okay. Dine alone and you are ignored, marginalized and ostracized by staff here at Oven Mozzarello! You are not...
